Tiny words follow the threads of messy cord in a meditation on the writings of Solomon. The three key strands are fastened in a sacred bond. The text that runs through this work was written around 1000 BC and reads –
“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labour: if either of then falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no want to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can anyone keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
‘Fastened’ was drawn dishevelled as the threads of life rarely run smooth.
The fine art print is signed and is the exact size of the original work — 1:1. The print is A3 in size (29.7 x 42 cm / 11.7 x 16.5″) so if you are choosing a standard frame, A3 or larger would work well. It would also look great in a 50cm square frame.
